• Pla de Mallorca Route (Sencelles - Algaida - Montuïri)

This loop route is perfect for admiring the almond trees in bloom on the large central plain of the island. Departing from Sencelles, a small and charming rural village, cyclists quickly find themselves alongside huge fields full of almond trees in spectacular bloom.  

Carry on towards the village of Algaida where you can stop for a while to try local products in one of the traditional wineries and shops. The route then continues towards Montuïri, another village with a lot of agricultural activity, the ideal place to take a break, enjoy the scenery and take a look at all the typical architecture.

The viewpoint in Randa, near Algaida, is crowned with a beautiful sanctuary at the summit, providing stunning panoramic views of the island, with the beauty of the almond trees in bloom making it the perfect place for a photo opportunity. 

• Route through the Serra de Tramuntana mountains (Valldemossa - Deià - Sóller) 

For more adventurous cyclists, the Tramuntana Mountains is a UNESCO World Heritage Site that features some of the most challenging and beautiful cycling routes on the island. Riding along its winding roads allows you to savour breathtaking panoramic views of the Mediterranean and the contrast of the almond trees in bloom with the mountainous backdrop.  

The route from Valldemossa to Deià and Sóller is especially beautiful at this time of year, with the crisp freshness of the mountain air combining wonderfully with fields full of blossom.

A walk around the charming central square in Sóller gives you the chance to enjoy one of the famous local pastries and a traditional almond ice cream while taking in all the majestic beauty of the surrounding mountains. 

• Route in the south of the island (Llucmajor - Campos - Santanyí)

This route takes you from Llucmajor, an area famous for its natural beauty and large open fields, up to Campos and Santanyí, two quiet villages that are full of history and great places to stroll through their narrow village streets.  

For much of this route you will be surrounded by endless fields of almond trees in bloom. In Campos you will also have the chance to make a stop at one of its traditional bakeries and try its traditional almond sweets. After reaching Santanyí, the local market provides an opportunity to savour many of the authentic flavours of the island.

The beach at Es Trenc is one of the most iconic beaches in the whole of Mallorca, and is very near this route. While the water can be a bit chilly in February, the views from the shore are totally unforgettable. And the sunset is something you will remember for a lifetime.

• The Almond Tree Festival in Son Servera: One thing you mustn’t miss in the east of the island is the Almond Tree Festival in Son Servera, which takes place in early February every year. This event is a kind of homage to the Mallorcan almond tree, where both its fruit and the whole culture that surrounds it are celebrated. 

• Visits to local wineries: The Pla de Mallorca region is famous for its winemaking traditions. Many wineries are open to the public and offer wine tastings accompanied by toasted local almonds. 

• Mallorcan cuisine: Traditional specialities such as almond “gató” cake and “sobrasada” spreadable, cured sausage are a must after a long day in the saddle. The small villages along these routes are ideal places to stop for a while and taste these island delicacies.
