    Holidays in Menorca

If you are thinking of going to Menorca with family or friends or as a couple, be in no doubt about it’s the perfect destination to enjoy a holiday full of activities or a one of relaxation and rest. A holiday in Menorca is the ideal place for families who like to unwind by combining cultural visits with sports and activities which are suitable for all ages and who like to enjoy days at the beaches and coves that are as every bit as beautiful as the Caribbean.

Menorca has 216 kilometres of coastline with what seems to be an endless number of coves and beaches

All the beaches of Menorca are very special, each beach varies from one to another, there are no beaches alike. In the north you will find them with steep outlines and reddish gold sand and in the south with gentle contours with coves of white sand and crystal waters. Menorca offers its visitors plenty of options to enjoy a sunny day at the beach, they can choose from the wide beaches with bars and sun loungers or small unspoilt coves surrounded by pines. Menorca is the perfect destination for all ages and for those who like movement and a lively atmosphere can enjoy the best-known beaches, the promenades with their bars and terraces and there are also plenty of water sports to choose from in Menorca. Those who prefer a holiday of relaxation, time out and tranquility one can enjoy horse-riding, a stroll through the streets of Ciutadella, explore the unspoiled and secluded coves  that  Menorca hides or even  rent a boat or see the  sunset from the cliffs of the Cova d'en Xoro.

This cave, which boasts numerous terraces and viewpoints, is certainly one of the most popular places to visit on the island. We could say that Menorca is the morning Ambassador in Spain as it is the first place where the dawn rises in Spain, which is why we would recommend you get up early to watch the sunrise in Menorca, you will be amongst the first to enjoy this magical moment as the rises up over the horizon; however the special part is not just being first but watching the dawn from any of the wonderful beaches of Menorca.

All of the beaches have one thing in common, turquoise waters and a unique natural habitat. Menorca has, in fact, been declared a biosphere reserve by UNESCO, for its remarkable diversity of Mediterranean habitats and landscapes.

    Menorca, a sea of possibilities

If you are travelling to Menorca, you can´t afford to miss the coves and beaches of white sand or the beaches surrounded by nature or the lively beaches and recreation areas.  It´s thanks to this variety of choice that Menorca has become one of the most favorite destinations for lovers of aquatic and nautical sports. The turquoise waters which bathe its coastline are a real magnet for lovers of windsurfing, sailing and water skiing. Cala Galdana is one of the largest and most well-known of Menorca´s beaches. Here you can practice water sports and enjoy the comforts of a popular beach the bars, shops and terraces.

The beach of Binigaus or Calan Bosch, one of the closest coves to Ciutadella, are also both ideal family beaches.  If you are looking for the perfect hotel for your holiday in Menorca, we can highly recommend the Zafiro Hotel Menorca, conveniently situated in Ciutadella. From here you can discover every corner of the island, but also enjoy the tranquility and the Menorcan atmosphere at the same time.

Cala Mitjana is an idyllic place for couples

Although, to tell the truth practically all the coves of Menorca will amaze you.  Another must-see cove is Cala en Turqueta an unspoilt and isolated beach only ten kilometres from Ciutadella and it´s a real marvel of nature. There are an infinite number of coves and beaches in Menorca, but the island has much more to offer than just coves and beaches. The interior has its own unique cultural value Mahon and Ciutadella have monuments and attractions that shouldn’t be overlooked. If you do decide to make a cultural trip  whilst in Menorca then, go and see the sanctuary of Monte Toro, the megalithic monuments or the Cathedral of Santa Maria, located in  Ciutadella.

Excursions, routes, beaches and sports there is  so much to do in Menorca but, one great  pleasure that you can´t miss on is the chance to try the typical cuisine of Menorca; enjoy the island´s typical dishes in the bars, restaurants and terraces.  Pass by Alaior to try the Menorcan cheese, or visit the charming fishing village of Fornells, where the chance to taste  the traditional lobster stew is not to be missed. And of course, for dessert try the traditional Ensaimada a temptation worth yielding to.
