Mallorca & Menorca Guide

Alcudia is located in the north-west area of Mallorca

Although best known for its beaches the old town of Alcudia is actually designated as an area of cultural and historical  interest;  an accolade it well deserves as it is a place of real wonder with its  the Roman city of Pollentia and its  high  medieval walls .

A visit to the old town of Alcudia is not to be missed if you are in the area. The municipality of Alcudia has more than thirty kilometers of coastline where one will find beaches and coves of crystalline waters. The most popular of all of its beaches is the Alcudia Beach, which as well as being  being one of the best known on the island is  also probably one of the most expansive. The Alcudia Beach receives thousands of tourists each summer, attracted by its atmosphere, its walks and its terraces. However, not all of its beaches are touristic; Alcudia has hidden coves, beautiful secluded beaches and tranquil cliffs that can be easily reached after a pleasant walk. That is why, for all you lovers of natural beaches, turquoise coves and unspoiled landscapes, we would encourage you to look beyond the Alcudia Beach and discover the lesser known parts of the paradise that surrounds Alcudia.

Another attraction of the area are the nature reserves, Alcudia is abundant with protected landscapes, such as the wetlands of the S'Albufera Natural Park, the largest and most important wetland in the Balearic archipelago. The natural beauty of Alcudia is a one full of contrasts here you can also  find wild peaks such as the Protected Area of la Victoria  and the majestic Sierra de Tramuntana mountain range. . Alcudia Beach Located in the Port of Alcudia, with more than seven kilometres of white fine sand, the Alcudia Beach is divided into two distinct sections: the first beginning next to the marina of Alcudia has a pleasant walkway which follows the beach for several kilometres to the area known as the Ciudad Blanca. It is here where   most of the leisure activities can be found, with lots of restaurants, bars, shops, sports and water activities.

The other section begins at the Ciudad Blanca and stretches to the Playa de Muro; here the surroundings are more virgin, more tranquil. There is no reason to be bored on the beach in Alcudia on a sunny day; it truly is paradise where boredom is impossible as there are so many activities to choose from including water sports like windsurfing, ski-ride, boat rentals, beach bars and restaurants. Alcudia beach is not only the largest beach of the municipality, but also has the largest leisure area and it’s the most accessible. What´s more, we are talking about one of the safest beaches in Mallorca, where the waves calmly lap the shoreline.

Alcudia´s neighbouring municipalities, which face the Bay of Alcudia,  also have many kilometres of  heavenly beaches such as Playa de Muro, Can Picafort or Colònia de Sant Pere to be enjoyed.

The climate in Alcudia is warm and temperate

During the summer months we enjoy high temperatures, sunny days and clear skies that allow both residents and tourists to enjoy beach days, trips and tours around the island. During the night you can enjoy a light breeze, which helps to make the summer nights more pleasant. At the end of the summer season the weather in Alcúdia in October is cooler and the wind is rather more notable than in the summer months, but there are still plenty of warm sunny days to enjoy. Ccoming on vacation to Alcudia at this time is the perfect moment to enjoy the island without the avalanches of tourists that occurs in high season.

Things to Do in Alcudia

Alcudia offers an endless multitude of possibilities of things to do from a spectacular cultural history, shops, seafront restaurants, hotels in Alcudia, sports activities, guided tours and excursions, to nautical activities and so much more. After spending a day at the beach or walking along the seafront, or relaxing on the sand or having a drink at one of the many beach clubs on the beach, there are still lots of things to do and discover in this little corner of Mallorcan paradise that is Alcudia. One of the most enjoyable experiences for those coming to Mallorca for a family holiday is the water parks.

At  the  Hidropark de Alcudia  the younger members of the family can  spend a day having fun,  enjoying themselves on  the slides,  in the wave pools,  in  the play areas, playing  mini golf, at the  restaurants and doing other fun things . Of course, the not so small members of the family can also enjoy a day full of adrenaline and fun. For lovers of sports Alcudia is the perfect place to do  either water sports or land sports like hiking, cycling, golfing as well as tennis, squash, paddle, volleyball, horse riding and golf among others. In addition, the more adventurous can practice extreme hiking, cycling or rock climbing which are very much in demand in the area.

Alcudia is also the ideal place to rent boats and moorings, in addition to practising nautical, aquatic and underwater sports such as windsurfing, swimming or scuba diving. But not everything has to do with sport, in Alcudia you can also find leisure activities with to do with the family, with your partner or with friends. If you are looking for a good time and simply want to disconnect, and have fun then on Alcudia beach you find all of the fantastic typical tourist activities such as banana, donuts, pedal rental, parachutes, tandem, kite-surf and sky-tube. However, if your idea of leisure is different, then one of the best options is to rent a jet ski and discover for yourself the coves and beaches of Alcudia. Nightlife in Alcudia At night, one mustn´t miss the sunsets on the beach or the terraces, restaurants, nightclubs and pubs that fill the Mallorcan night with light and colors. In the port of Alcudia you can enjoy a pleasant and more relaxed atmosphere than in other parts of the island.

There are plenty of bars and places to dance and drink, but Alcudia is a family-oriented place, so the atmosphere is more peaceful. Check out the most popular Hotels for your stay in Alcudia
