Nautical, aquatic and underwater sports in Alcudia

Alcudia is in one of the most extraordinary areas of Mallorca with a very sheltered bay which makes it ideal to practice water and underwater sport and has all the amenities for you to enjoy such activities. What makes this area perfect is that Alcudia has a magnificent natural environment and as well a superb infrastructure which means you can do all sports you can possibly imagine on the water, in the water and under the water! Thanks to these well maintained infrastructures in Alcudia you can rent boats, moorings and do sports like windsurfing, kite surfing, sailing or diving. Thanks to its wonderful coastline tourists as well residents can find yacht clubs, diving schools,  surf schools and many other water sports schools  as well other businesses which offer a different type of “water sport” like the “ banana” “ the donut” and  the floating inflatable fun parks for the little ones to enjoy.

Boat charter

The soft Mediterranean climate, the calmness of the waters that bathe the coast and the natural environment that surrounds Alcudia make it the perfect place for sailing and what´s more, renting a boat  is no problem  in Alcudia. In fact, thanks to the ever-increasing demand for boat and yacht charters Alcudia has become one of the most popular places in Europe for boat charters. If you ask in the reception of any our hotels in Alcudia they will tell you the best places and yacht clubs where you can rent a boat in Alcudia, sailing is one of the best ways to discover the island, a recommended boat trip would be to sail to all the idyllic coves that Mallorca has hidden away. Because if you fancy visiting all the coves with beautiful fine white sand and turquoise waters, then forget the car and avoid the traffic jams and busy beaches the best way to see them is to rent a boat and enjoy navigating your way from one cove to the next and remember some coves are only accessible from the sea so you will get to see a lot more than you would by car.

Sailing and surfing

Alcudia is situated between two bays the one of Alcudia and the one of Pollensa.  The Bay of Alcudia, the largest bay on the island, is one of the most beautiful places to navigate as most of the Alcudia Bay is protected from the winds. Nevertheless, there are  some areas  where the winds  from the Sierra de Tramuntana blow quite strongly,  but this only  means that there are places that are ideal for doing sports that need a bit wind and current like surfing. Alcudia is an area that, despite the calmness of the Mediterranean Sea, allows lovers of surfing to do their sport surrounded by the most amazing landscape. Sailing as a sport  has been gaining in popularity over the years   in Mallorca especially since  there are many important sailing competitions  held during the summer such as  la Copa de S.M. el Rey, ( the King´s Cup) el Trofeo Almirante Conde de Barcelona, el Trofeo S.A.R. Princesa Sofía  and  la Breitling. The best sailors in world and numerous members of European royalty come to Mallorca to spend their summers on the island attracted by these competitions. If you would like to know about these competitions just ask at any local tourist information point.

Water fun for the whole family

The possibilities of leisure activities in the sea in Alcudia are endless there are activities for the big kids and the little ones from the fun “banana” or “donut” to water skiing, parachutes, windsurfing, floating inflatable fun parks, pedal boat hire and speedboats. In addition to the sports that we have already mentioned, Alcudia is ideal for kayaking excursions because of its calm waters and the best thing about kayaking you don´t need any previous experience and   what´s best the whole family can enjoy a day out on the water discovering all the hidden coves and caves along the coast of Alcudia. Of all the aquatic sports, one of the most popular amongst tourists and residents alike is diving. The north of the island has sea beds full of colours and marine wildlife which is worth discovering. For lovers of diving it is almost  obligatory to dive in the bay of Alcudia and there are several schools and diving clubs where you can rent everything you need to spend a day under the sea. Choose something different to and enjoy a day full of adrenaline and fun. We look forward to seeing you in Alcudia!
