The bicycle touring routes in Sierra de Tramuntana, preferred by amateurs

There are numerous cycle tourism routes that can be done in Mallorca and it is very easy to reach the island and stay in good hotels with all the amenities needed for cycling such as the Zafiro Hotels so that each morning you can ride out with the bike to enjoy the Mallorcan landscape and of course enjoy the wonderful the weather. Discover some fantastic places; see all classes of wildlife and fauna. However visiting cyclists' most preferred route amongst all those that run through the Sierra de Tramuntana is the one to Sa Calobra.

You should carry a GPS to be on the safe side so you don´t get lost on the narrow roads, although if you can still the sea not all is not lost and you will be   fine. Sa Calobra is a naturally photogenic place  which has appeared on the TV umpteen times, it is located in the heart of Sierra de Tramuntana, it is actually  port which flows down to the level of the sea, which in its self is very unusual. As for cyclists, it is quite the challenge of resistance, firstly to get there, you have go down the steep and extremely  winding road and then  after a short break, you have the luxury of riding all the way back up again! A cycle trip to Sa Calobra departing from Palma or any tourist area of Mallorca, is a cycling tour itself but it could supplemented with another route if you wish, dedicating one day to Sa Calobra, other day to a route through the Centre of the island, another to the so-called ‘green olive tree’ route and finally, a circuit round Llucmajor, another route preferred by lovers of cycling who wish to make contact again with the road after doing many of the other routes around Balearic Islands.

These are just a  few  suggestions to supplement a visit to Sa Calobra, but they can broke down into parts The olive tree route  is mountainous and passes through several colls (ports) and villages of the Sierra de Tramuntana which are  easy to find on the map such  as Caimari, Binibona, Campanet, Inca, Lloseta, Mancor de la Vall and Caimari. You can also  visit the caves of Campanet if you wish. In the main, the route through the Centre of Mallorca is much plainer, without coll in sight, and passes through the towns of Algaida, Sencelles, Ruberts, Pina and Algaida. It has very few gradients and it is very well signposted and it is a real pleasure to cycle as it also passes through the very picturesque landscape of the Centre of Mallorca, which is certainly worth taking a photo of. On the way there are many bars, restaurants and you will find all the services you need for cycling, including cycle hire. And, finally, it is the circuit round Llucmajor, far away from Sa Calobra and with the departure and arrival in the same town and not a coll insight, highlights of the trip are the archaeological site of the talaiotic village of Capocorb Vell, which is very easily found on the map and deserves a visit and photo by any fan of cycling. Another striking route is the impressive cliffs of Cap Blanc which are quite often news and are at the far end of the port of Palma.  So as you tell a visit to Sa Calobra is really  just an   excuse to see so much more, because cycling lovers love routes that pass through the villages of the Balearic Islands.  The roads in Mallorca are pleasant to cycle on and there is so much information and cookies on the internet about cycle routes and services available, including the rental of equipment which helps to plan your cycling tour of Mallorca.
