A family day out

In Mallorca, there are many tours that you can do with children. Depending on the age of the children you can either opt for a half day or full day excursion, the full day excursions that last until the sunset are always with doing because the sunset from whatever part of Mallorca is always worth seeing. A short walk, ideal with children is the walk ”la ruta del Salt des Freu” in Bunyola where they can get up close to waterfalls surrounded by a stunning landscape. And speaking of nature another perfect place to visit with the family is the Natural Park “la albufera” in Alcudia, a freshwater lagoon and estuary, this is one of the best-maintained parks in the Balearic Islands. Here you can see the flora and fauna of Mallorca plus lots of the birds native to Mallorca.

One of the best things is that once you are into the park there are several routes to choose from of varying length which you can do either on foot or by bike. There is also guided tours which are great to do as a family or as a group as the tour guides usually have little activities for the children to do to keep their interest during the tour. And once the visit is over you can either return to the hotel or visit the nearby beaches which are surrounded by pine trees ideal for a picnic in the shade. Another fabulous day out with children is a ride on a train, something all children love to do, the Soller train leaves from Palma and goes to the very beautiful Port de Soller, the train itself is a delight it is like a wooden toy train, as the train descends into the port the views are amazing especially if you time your trip when the orange trees are laden with fruit.

Princes and Princesses

Another attraction of Mallorca is its medieval villages with high walls, castles and monasteries which seem to transport you back to days when princesses were locked up in high towers and a handsome prince would come along and rescue them. One for sure Children will love running along the high walls of Alcudia and through the narrow streets of Valldemossa, visiting the symbolic Bellver castle in Palma de Mallorca where they can let their imagination run wild. Here they can imagine, in these magnificent places full of history, the battles fought, they can be the knight defending the princess from the dragon or vice versa or play act another fairy-tale that they have read.

Bellver Castle is a must-see place for any family on holiday in Mallorca there is fabulous forest to explore and several children play parks surround the castle area, if you want you may park half way and enjoy the walk up to the castle. Theme parks to go with children in Mallorca

Another enjoyable day out when travelling with children is a day out at the theme park, in Mallorca, there are several theme parks where you have a remarkable day with the family, for the nature and animal lovers there are zoos and aquariums which are all designed to keep the family entertained. You can choose between Marineland, the oldest on the island, and Palma Aquarium Jungle park junior a great forest park with lots to keep all the family entertained. If you visit the island in the summer you can not to pass up the opportunity to go with the children to the water parks of Mallorca, there is Aqualand in the Arenal area, Western Water Park is perfect if you are staying you in Calvia or the Hidropark in Alcudia.

A Day at the beach

There most favourite activity for the younger ones especially is a day on the beach, splashing around in the water and making sandcastles in the sand. In Mallorca, there are lots of perfect beaches for children which have all the amenities needed to have a fun day on the beach, Mallorca has a great variety of beaches to enjoy and to come to Mallorca and not to visit one means that you are missing a fundamental part of what Mallorca is about. One of the most beautiful and safest Mallorca beaches is  Es Trenc.  This beach which can be quite busy during the high season has one the largest beach in Mallorca with wonderful white sand and crystalline waters and furthermore the water doesn´t go above the knees for 50ms out from the shoreline.

A stroll around Palma

Palma de Mallorca is the capital of Mallorca and a visit to it is almost obligatory if you are on holiday in Mallorca, you will find streets full of shops and terraces, streets and squares full of Mallorquin charm and a large selection of restaurants offering wonderful gastronomic delights.

And to give you a quick tip if you visit Palma during the summer or spring find the time to sit on one of its many terraces and just soak up the atmosphere or have a lovely homemade ice cream because it is the small things that make the difference.
