Ciutadella

Gastronomy

Menorca takes the best of the land and the sea to create exquisite culinary specialties to taste the essence of the Mediterranean in every bite. In Ciutadella and surrounding towns, a meal based on caldereta de langosta, lobster stew, is a must.

Menorca offers a wide range of delicious food products including the Mahón cheese (sublime with figat, a thick fig jam), wine with PGI Vi de la Terra Illa de Menorca, and gin xoriguer, the key ingredient in a typical drink, gin with lemonade, for the San Juan festival in Ciutadella.

For dessert, Menorca has its own version of the ensaimada mallorquina, a bun called coca bamba that is eaten dipped in chocolate for breakfast.
