Golfing at one of the many courses in Mallorca is a pleasure because of the high standard of its greens and other necessary requirements that make Mallorca an excellent golf destination and what’s more all the courses  are  not too far away from to each other, well nothing  is too far away on Mallorca,  so that you can play  a different club each day of  the holidays, another bonus is the wonderful scenery surrounding the courses and there is  one more important thing to remember that Mallorca is only  a short flight from most European countries.

You can play Golf almost the whole year round in Mallorca as the greens never freeze over but there are two ideal periods during the year to play golf given the mild climate, the gentle winds, little or no rainfall and the daylight hours, the first season is February to May and the second September to November. If you  come to Mallorca to play golf during either of these times  you will be guaranteed to have an amazing round of golf!

There are 25 golf courses on the island of Mallorca, some of which are near Palma, each course has its own characteristics and individual challenges. The mild temperatures and the humidity of Mallorca enhance the quality of the greens, another thing to take note of is that the courses are as diverse as the Mallorcan landscape no two courses are the same and each one of them can satisfy the wishes of both the professional and the amateur golf player. Son Quint, Son Muntaner or Son Vida are just 3 of the courses most recommended in Mallorca, courses which can be found all over the island, some in Palma, some in Calvia o Andratx and others in the north; Son Quint and Golf Son Muntaner are in the premises of the hotel Arabella Golf Mallorca in the capital but the others can be found in Alcudia, Pollensa and other parts of the coast.

It is only in  Santa Ponsa, next to the  Zafiro Rey don Jaime,  where  you will find 3 golf courses together; Santa Ponsa 1, 2 y 3, the last one is 9 holes which is ideal for the beginner in Mallorca but each of them have some  excellent resources and are extremely well managed and are always in demand from golfers from all over Europe right from the beginning of the season. Golf Son Antem is very near to Palma and is ideal for those wishing to learn the game. The course was designed to enable  beginners to enjoy their first contact with the ball. Wide and long fairways that are not too demanding for the novice or  the low handicapped player although some of the  holes are  long and difficult and can be quite a challenge; the green  is also well protected by bunkers.

Canyamel, the challenge of a lifetime

The golf course at Canyamel  in Capdepera  which is  challenge for any golfer is situated a few kilometres from the Zafiro Can Picafort,  it is an 18 hole par 73  golf course  although there some easy holes optimised for any level of player it is one of the most demanding greens in Mallorca,  the course is really one of  two contrasting halves, the first half being the slighter easier of the two, the placements of the trees, dunes and  its general  design offer  the golfer a certain level of difficulty  which makes for  an excellent and challenging round of golf. Not from the Zafiro Tropic, is Golf Alcanada in Alcudia this golf course is  all about harmony  the course  is set in the most beautiful surroundings running consistently by the sea and framed by pines and olive trees  if you go for a round of golf at first light or during  the first hours of the morning you will get to see all sorts of birds which are native to  Mallorca.

Everything about the golf club at Alcanada its installation and buildings are perfectly at one with its natural setting, it really is worth a visit even if you don’t play golf. The restaurant apart from serving wonderful food has a lovely terrace from which not only can you look out on to most of the course but also across over the bay of Alcudia. The golf club at Pollensa which is very close to the  Zafiro Palace Alcudia, is only 9 holes but again it is very integrated into the natural landscape surrounded by olive trees and with magnificent views of  the  Sierra de Tramuntana and the bays of Pollensa and  Alcudia and even across  to the S'Albufera nature park of Mallorca.

Golf Pollença is renowned for having the two longest holes amongst all the golf courses in Mallorca. The course is quite undulating and relatively hort with a lot of trees and other hazards it is of average difficulty and is suitable for players of all handicaps this and the wonderful scenery makes a round of golf at Golf Pollença highly enjoyable. The choice of Golf in Mallorca is so diverse and varied that Mallorca has become a very important part of the Golfers circuit, we haven’t mentioned all the areas where you can play such as Andratx but there are courses and clubs suitable for every type of player from the beginners to the professionals who come to Mallorca to play in the many tournaments that are held on the Island.
