Tips for preparing the swimming race
Training in the sea in a neoprene wetsuit is fundamental for getting used to the waves and currents and to the feel of the suit. This will help avoid any surprises or complications in the race that you don’t know how to deal with. The more your training resembles the real conditions in which you will be competing, the better prepared you will be.
To make sure you are more relaxed and perform better during the race, we also recommend you practice your starts and rounding the buoys as well as practising all of the different swimming styles in your training, focusing, of course, on the front crawl you will be using in the race.
It’s also important to be clear about how we can improve our technique and what are the best exercises we can do to improve our weaknesses.
Lengthening our stroke, improving our rotation or practising sculling to help with the way we complete the stroke are just a few of the objectives we might have for training. If we do plenty of specific exercises, our movements will become instinctive and we will make quicker progress.
