There are still a few months to go before Ironman 70.3 Mallorca in May in Alcudia. And there is no better way to get prepared than training on the same route and in the same area as the race itself. Get your running shoes on and enjoy a relaxed jog or a record-breaking run alongside the sea. This is one of the best destinations in the entire Mediterranean and a place to discover numerous new experiences.
On the trail of Ironman 70.3 Mallorca
The swimming part of the race takes place in the calm waters of Alcudia Bay and the cycling takes riders through the Sierra de Tramuntana mountains, home to some of the most challenging climbs on the island as well as all the towns and villages in the north of Majorca.
The route for the running part of the race starts at Puerto de Alcudia and runs through several of its streets before continuing along the seafront promenade to Alcudia beach.
There is another option for running training on a very similar route that goes from Puerto de Alcudia to Puerto de Pollensa, mostly along the coast. This perfectly paved course has a special lane for cyclists and runners to accompany several kilometres of beautiful sea views.
And if you want to train on different terrain, one of the best alternatives is the road to the Talaia de La Victoria in Puerto de Alcudia, a small 440-metre high mountain and protected nature reserve with a path reaching all the way to the top which offers beautiful views of the surrounding scenery and one of the best views of Pollensa and Alcudia Bay.
Destination: Puerto de Alcudia
One of the best things about this part of Mallorca is that you can choose different routes every day. One day you can go jogging along the seafront towards Muro beach, and the next you can take the route to Puerto de Pollensa or one of the many different routes in the area: Barcarès, Mal Pas, Morer Vermell or Manresa, among others.
That’s why it’s no surprise that Puerto de Alcudia has become such a popular destination for triathletes and athletes from all over the world. Another reason is that Alcudia also has a wide range of leisure facilities for visitors of all ages, and for individual travellers, couples and friend and family groups. The old town of Alcudia, for example, is well worth a visit. Discover the medieval walls with 26 towers you can walk around, the cobblestone streets full of restaurants and traditional shops or the local market held on Tuesdays and Sundays.
