Today, we would like to talk about some of our sustainability projects that, while they might not always grab much immediate attention, they reflect our commitment to providing responsible tourism experiences and a transformational journey guided by our desire to preserve the privileged natural environment in our destinations while always offering extraordinary experiences.

Commitment to the future
There are four key areas in our Zafiro Goes Greener project: Reduce + Recycle + Reuse + Replace. This is the premise for our constant efforts to implement environmentally friendly practices and policies that support sustainability and enhance environmental awareness.
These efforts involve every different area in Zafiro Hotels and are reflected in the nature of our different services and facilities.
Environmentally friendly cups and amenities
Just like our guests, Zafiro Hotels is firmly committed to responsible and sustainable resource management. Among other initiatives, we’ve already said goodbye to single-use plastics for our amenities and cups. As many of you may already have seen, we have replaced them with reusable alternatives like our straws, which are now edible! These projects are part of our focus on the circular economy, helping us reduce waste and protect the environmental future of our islands.
Reduction of plastic in cellulose products
One of our biggest goals is to reduce the use of plastic in all the cellulose products in our hotels. This has led Zafiro Hotels to become one of the first hotel chains in the world to use 100% sustainable cellulose paper. This helps us guarantee the same quality as ever, but also taking far better care of the environment.
Sustainable waste management
To support the circular economy, Zafiro Bahía is taking an active part in the RENETAS project in Playa de Muro. Our team is retrieving the inflatable beds left behind by guests so that they can be transformed into things such as bags, aprons or pencil cases. The project also has a social benefit as the transformation process is carried out in a centre for people with disabilities and at risk of social exclusion.
Eco-efficient digital newspapers and magazines
Every hotel in the collection Zafiro Palace (Alcudia, Palmanova and Andratx) offers guests and visitors the chance to view more than 8,500 magazines, newspapers and books in a sustainable, hygienic and eco-efficient way. The project began in 2022 and helps saves a huge amount of paper every year and the trees that are needed to make it. A way to encourage our guests to share our commitment to a greener world.
Creating Sustainability
Zafiro Hotels has also implemented a number of different initiatives to support greater environmental responsibility. These include measures to reduce water and energy use in hotels, energy efficiency systems and projects to enhance recycling and waste management.
Examples include the automatic shut-down of the power supply to 5-star hotel rooms when no movement is detected, the installation of solar panels and biomass systems, water-saving devices, biodegradable cleaning products and the selective separation of urban and hazardous waste.
Our sense of environmental responsibility encourages us to take even more steps to continue making progress in these and other projects. In addition to involving all of our guests, we are also working with local suppliers, partners and visitors to make our sustainable practices even more robust. For all of us. For the planet.
