The best 4 beaches for enjoying the October sun in Mallorca
Are you one of those people that thinks that once summer is over, the beach is over too? Today we explain why it doesn’t have to be that way, even less so if you happen to be in Mallorca. Choosing a beach destination for an autumn break is a great idea, and in October there’s still plenty of time to enjoy some really great beaches.
Obviously temperatures do drop off in October, but at around 20 to 25°C, they’re still really pleasant. There are also way less tourists around and you may often feel as if you have a private beach all to yourself. Doesn’t that sound great?
Mallorca has so many nice beaches, but today we will recommend four of our favourites:
Index
- Cala Deià
- Cala Tuent
- Es Carbó
- Cala Sa Nau
Cala Deià
In the heart of the Serra de Tramuntana mountains is a tiny cove full of shiny pebbles.
We recommend that you park in the village of Deià, one of the most beautiful villages in the whole of Spain, and take a walk through its cobbled streets to the church to admire the spectacular views over the Mediterranean Sea.
You can walk down to the cove from the village. The walk takes around 20 minutes and is really nice, even more so knowing that at the end of the path is a beautiful natural environment with mountains and transparent waters.
Cala Tuent
Although the sea is not as warm as in the middle of summer, it should not stop you enjoying the seabed and diving.
Cala Tuent is in the shade of the highest mountain in Mallorca, the Puig Major, and is also well known for being one of the best areas for snorkelling on the island. You will be surrounded by nature wherever you look, so relax and enjoy it as you charge up on positive energy!
The best way to get to here is by car. You have to head towards Escorca and then take the winding road to Sa Calobra. At the end of the road you should follow the signs to Cala Tuent. We recommend you bring some food and plenty of water if you’re going to stay all day as the cove doesn’t have any beach bars.
Es Carbó
Es Carbó is a really long, completely unspoilt, white sand beach, just perfect if you’re looking for a quiet place where you can savour the beauty of the scenery.
To get there you have to take a 30-minute walk from Colonia de Sant Jordi, but it's well worth the effort. It’s a perfect place to go with small children as the first 50 metres or so of sea is really shallow.
Cala Sa Nau
Cala Sa Nau, 13 kilometres from Portocolom, is well known for its picturesque Z-shape, formed by a tongue of sea that has worked its way about 300 metres into the rock, meaning it is completely protected from the wind. Pools of crystal-clear water and white sands make it a fantastic and beautiful place to visit.
