Three routes in the Tramuntana mountains

Mallorca & Menorca Guide

Enjoy the freedom as you follow a route in the shade of pine trees, savour that marine scent and disconnect from the hustle and bustle. The Tramuntana mountains provide the perfect refuge for a few days of relaxation, nature and a healthy lifestyle. This is one of those very special corners of the world that have earned the title World Heritage Sites, and here you can find places that you will always want to return to. We would like to present three Tramuntana routes not to be missed during your holiday.

Discovering the Serra de Tramuntana

Serving as stunning scenery in numerous films and bearing witness to outstandingly beautiful moments, the Serra de Tramuntana mountain range is Mallorca's natural jewel. It is a paradise filled with magical landscapes and unforgettable villages: Valldemossa, Esporles, Estellencs, Banyalbufar and, of course, Sóller and Deià... One wonder after the other, crowned by a visit to one of the most beautiful viewpoints in the world: Cape Formentor.

Formentor Lighthouse Route

Among all the unforgettable nooks and crannies hidden away on Mallorca, the Formentor Lighthouse is a favourite. Its dizzying cliffs, the deep blue of the Mediterranean Sea, the slopes dotted with small green pines and scrubs... This is all the essence of Mallorca gathered in a postcard setting.

The route to Cape Formentor is about 25 km and you start from the always lively Port of Alcudia where our hotels Zafiro Palace Alcudia and Zafiro Tropic are located. It will normally take about 1 hour and 30 minutes if you go by bike, and 40 minutes if you opt for a car.

Along the route the Formentor Peninsula offers up postcard views that will make you the envy of your social networks: there are a couple of natural viewpoints along the way where you can take photos of the lighthouse in all its splendour and the mountains that surround it. Take the opportunity to stop for a while and enjoy the wonder. Breathe and immerse yourself in the stillness.

Cala Deià to Sóller Coastal Route

To really surround yourself with Mallorcan atmosphere, we suggest you try the route from Cala Deià to Sóller, an ideal route for hiking lovers that connects two of the most beautiful villages on Mallorca and invites you to discover all the charms of the Serra de Tramuntana.

The route starts in the village Deià, offering a really pleasant itinerary along the coast that will take your through incredible coves such as Es Canyeret – a rocky, naturist beach – and the famous Llucalcari with turquoise waters that invite you to take a quick swim all year round.

From Llucalcari and following the Camino De Castelló route (known as the Camí Vell de Sóller a Deià, or the old road from Sóller to Deià), you will arrive in Sóller where you can treat yourself to a nice meal and a rest before you take a taxi or bus back to Deià. In total, four hours on this unforgettable route along the coastal paths of the Tramuntana.

Puig des Galatzó Route

One of the most recommended hiking trails in the Tramuntana is the route to Puig des Galatzó. It is located in the south-western part of the mountains and takes you through the spectacular Mallorcan countryside, Mediterranean forests and steep, rocky paths to reach the impressive peak of the mountain Galatzó.

From here, at a height of more than 1,000 metres, you can enjoy one of the best views of Mallorca, a panorama of the entire south-west coast, the wonderful bay of Palma, and the other peaks belonging to the Serra de Tramuntana.

The route to Galatzó starts at kilometre mark 97 on the road MA-10, in Andratx. In total, this is a circular trajectory on foot of nearly 20 km that can be done in about 4 hours. This route through the Serra de Tramuntana is ideal if you are staying in one of our hotels in Palmanova, in our hotel in Santa Ponsa, or in our new 5-star hotel in Andratx.
